The milk meter is a relatively accurate, compact, full-flow milk meter designed for recording individual cattle milk. It measures only the milk collected and ignores the amount of air trapped in the milk volume. It helps in identifying cattle with their yield and their performance which results in more efficient farm management practice and rationing for cattle.

Tandem parlor designs are not all that different from tandem bikes, in that the cows stand nose-to-tail inside individual stalls. This gives the milker a side-on vantage point of the udder.
